This is a SAMPLE of the full pay-per-grade report — your own report is generated from your real answer, down to every error.
This report is deliberately built to prepare you for the worst — scored the way the strictest fair examiner would, spotting every weakness so nothing surprises you on test day. Your real exam band is most likely to be the same or higher.
Tier 2 diagnostic: real per-criterion bands with explanations, plus genuine acoustic word-stress findings from your own recording — a PRO benefit.
A solid Band 6.5 answer: you address the cue card directly and keep going without long pauses, but everyday, imprecise vocabulary and a few uncontrolled run-on stretches — where several ideas run together with no clear pause — are what's holding the overall band down from a 7.
130+ wpm supports Band 7+
of total time spent paused
mid-sentence gaps while searching for words
"um", "uh", "er" per 100 words spoken
Normal idea-planning pauses — even Band 9 speakers have these.
strength You keep talking without long unnatural pauses and organise your answer in a clear order — a general statement, then a concrete example, then a closing comment.
holding you back A few noticeable hesitations before less familiar words ('properly', 'special') break the rhythm, and you lean on 'and'/'but' to link almost every idea instead of varied connectors.
what this band means Band 7 fluency & coherence means speaking at length with only occasional loss of fluency, and developing ideas with a range of connectives even if some are used inaccurately or feel repetitive.
next band up Band 8 asks for fluent, effortless speech where any hesitation is to find ideas (not language), and cohesion that goes unnoticed rather than leaning on 'and'/'but'.
strength You use some less common vocabulary for the topic ('basic dishes', 'master a skill') and can rephrase when a word doesn't come immediately.
holding you back Vocabulary is mostly general-purpose ('nothing special', 'really want') rather than precise, with little attempt at idiomatic language or collocation beyond the safe basics.
what this band means Band 6 lexical resource is a wide enough range to discuss the topic at length, with meaning clear despite some imprecise or general word choice.
next band up Band 7 needs resource to discuss topics in more detail with less repetition, using some idiomatic language and paraphrasing naturally when a precise word is missing.
strength You mix simple and complex sentences (the 'because' and 'but' clauses) and most tenses are accurate.
holding you back Complex stretches aren't always controlled — in 'Right now I can only make a few basic dishes, and they're nothing special, to be honest, but…' three complete ideas run together with only 'and'/'but' and no clear pause, so the sentence loses its shape.
what this band means Band 6 grammar is a mix of simple and complex forms; errors happen but rarely block meaning, and longer stretches are less controlled than short ones.
next band up Band 7 needs a range of complex structures used flexibly, with errors occurring only occasionally rather than every time a longer stretch is attempted.
